AGAVE ROSE VINEYARDS HISTORICAL HOUSE REMODEL AND NEW WATER TOWER
St. Helena, California
The three acre site includes a historically registered Victorian house, various outbuildings, and vineyards. The house is thoroughly remodeled and upgraded both inside and out including new kitchen, bathrooms and zinc roof.
New construction includes a water tower supporting a 3000 gallon galvanized steel holding tank. The tower also provides occasional recreational use for both children and adults. A children’s playhouse is incorporated at mid-level (accessed via an accordion ladder) with a wine tasting deck below at ground level.
Rather than mimic the traditional detailing of the house, the water tower seeks to become a more sympathetic part of the larger landscape and is constructed of naturally weathering steel wide flange frames and horizontal channel slats with exposed welds.
