The intent is to transform a leased bungalow into a world class photography gallery emphasizing Ansel Adams’ works, but with a minimal budget. A slatted facade of standard framing lumber masks the existing building and is the basis for a new composition, including a massive boulder serving as an entry sentinel. Adams’ lauded zone system of eleven values ranging from pure black to bright white inspires the painted gradations of the facade.
